External Stakeholder Meetings Continue as Part of the Accreditation Process

As part of the ongoing accreditation efforts at our university, the Mapping and Cadastre Program under the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at Osmancık Ömer Derindere Vocational School conducted a visit to Alkan Surveying Engineering Ltd. Co. located in Çorum city center. The visit was attended by the company’s Founding Director, Dr. Öykü Alkan, and the program’s faculty member, Dr. Mehmet Nurullah Alkan.

During the meeting, developments in the private sector were discussed, focusing on the actions and activities needed to ensure that graduates gain the necessary qualifications and adapt to current industry conditions. At this stage, information was exchanged on the “3D Digital Building Model” procedures—made mandatory by recent regulatory changes—and related legislative updates. The integration of elevation data into construction activities, the required calculations, and documentation were also reviewed in detail. Furthermore, software and hardware updates within the sector were thoroughly discussed.

Dr. Öykü Alkan emphasized the importance of incorporating elective courses covering legislation and technical practices related to the use of elevation data in 3D city modeling, highlighting how these evolving conditions affect students’ education. She also underlined the significance of addressing digital cartography and conveying the regulations within and beyond municipal boundaries to students.

Additionally, both parties agreed to maintain regular cooperation through joint meetings, seminars, and conferences to continue the exchange of knowledge between the two institutions.
